Their personal stories may have been lost to history but are always remembered through the ages by family and friends. She picks up on the signature energy left behind as she walks.

She has walked through various areas of Vietnam, East Timor, Normandy landings with her son and brother-in-law, parts of Germany and France. She travelled with WWII veterans to walk Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian and Guam. Having lived on Okinawa, she visited many locations throughout that country. For 32 years Shirley followed her husband around the world as they moved from duty station to duty station. During her time in Israel, she was the director of the American Embassy Women’s Group Preschool in Kfar Shmaryahu.

Beyond military retirement, life has led to Okinawa, Japan, and Australia where she was president of the British Charity, the Ryder-Cheshire Foundation, in Canberra.

While in Canberra, she also organized Women in Healing Arts as a local community of women recognizing their skills as traditional healers.

She has called her practice Reiki without Borders that has taken her all over the world as a Reiki Master-Teacher.

She lived among the Australian Aborigine, the Pitanjara, and the opal miners of the Outback, South Australia and between 2000-2010, made trips to East Timor (Timor Leste) as a volunteer working at the Bairo Pite Clinic in Dili, working with lepers and those suffering from tropical diseases, tuberculosis, malaria, AIDS and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)

She continues to travel and explore while enjoying the magic on each new path she discovers.

This is her seventh book with perhaps more to come!
